Rail Fares
If you're travelling on the train (and not using the Metro), then these tickets will be the best value. With peak and off-peak tickets available and railcard discounts too, travelling on the Northumberland Line will be great value. Fares on the line will be single led driven, so, the return fare will be double the price of a single and this is different to most rail fares. Peak fares will apply to journeys made that arrive at your destination before 09.30 on weekdays, with all other times being off peak.

Railcard discounts will be available on these fares and more information on the railcards available can be found here.
Integrated Fares with Tyne & Wear Metro
Our integrated fares with Metro were agreed by the Joint Transport Committee on the 19th March 2024 and here's more information on what those fares are.

Northumberland Line stations are included in the Metro ticket zone map.
Zone A includes Newcastle & Manors
Zone B includes Northumberland Park
Zone C included Seaton Delaval, Newsham and Blyth Bebside* stations
Zone D includes Blyth Bebside*, Bedlington & Ashington stations
* Blyth Bebside is the zone boundary station for zones C & D, so if you're travelling towards Newcastle you'll need 3 zones & just 1 zone if you're travelling to Bedlington or Ashington
Please note that integrated fares with the Tyne & Wear Metro are only available with a Pop Card and you won't be able to buy tickets from ticket vending machines or from the train conductor.

Pop Pay As You Go prices has changed with a new maximum single fare of £2.50 and daily cap of £5 thanks to funding from the North East Combined Authority.

Pop Season Tickets have increased from 1st April 2026.
Young People's fares remain unchanged.
Young People's fares offer some great value for money with single fares with a Pop Blue card being only £1 for anyone 21 & under (under 5's are free).
A Weekly Season Ticket for those 18 and under costs £10.00 or £38.60 for 4 weeks unlimited travel.
An annual Student Season Ticket costs £518.50 for unlimited travel.
