Ticketing
Ticket prices for the Northumberland Line have now been finalised ahead of the line opening later this summer.
Customers will be able to buy tickets from any station to anywhere on the national rail network either from the ticket vending machine on each station or in advance via ticketing websites and mobile phone apps.
In addition, customers can also use integrated fares with the Tyne & Wear Metro with the Nexus Pop Card. You can buy a season ticket from a week up to a year on a Pop Card or choose a Pay As You Go option and simply tap in and out of each station to get the best value fares for the Northumberland Line and Tyne & Wear Metro.
Rail Fares
If you're travelling on the train (and not using the Metro), then these tickets will be the best value. With peak and off-peak tickets available and railcard discounts too, travelling on the Northumberland Line will be great value. Fares on the line will be single led driven, so, the return fare will be double the price of a single and this is different to most rail fares.
Railcard discounts will be available on these fares and more information on the railcards available can be found here
Northumberland Line stations will join the Metro ticket zone map.
Zone A will include Newcastle & Manors
Zone B will include Northumberland Park
Zone C will include Seaton Delaval, Newsham and Blyth Bebside* stations
Zone D will include Blyth Bebside*, Bedlington & Ashington stations
* Blyth Bebside will be the zone boundary station for zones C & D, so if you're travelling towards Newcastle you'll need 3 zones & just 1 zone if you're travelling to Ashington
Adult prices with a Pop card will start at £1.80 for a single ticket in 1 zone & a 4 zone single will be £3.80
The daily capped price with a Pop card will start at £2.90 for unlimited daily travel in 1 zone & the 4 zone daily cap will be £6.20
Season Ticket prices bought with a Pop card will start at £13.20 for unlimited travel for 1 week in 1 zone with unlimited travel in all 4 zones at £30 per week.
Young People's fares will offer some great value for money with single fares with a Pop Blue card being only £1 for anyone 21 & under (under 5's are free).
A Weekly Season Ticket for those 18 and under will cost £9.50 or £36.90 for 4 weeks unlimited travel.
An annual Student Season Ticket will cost £497 for unlimited travel.
Metro Gold Cards won't be valid for use on Northumberland Line trains.
