Passengers journeys pass the 2m mark on the Northumberland Line

Passengers have now made more than 2,000,000 journeys on the Northumberland Line - less than two years after it opened. Train operator Northern runs 416 services a week along the route which reopened to passengers, for the first time in 60 years, in December 2024. Revised Service on 26th & 27th September 2026

We've shared previously that there were engineering works that would disrupt trains on the Northumberland Line on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September 2026. The plans have now changed and train services will run as normal for most of the day on Saturday 26th September, with the last train from Newcastle running at 16:25 to Ashington and the last train from Ashington running at 17:07 to Newcastle.
