Information Event Ahead Of Northumberland Park Station Opening
Our next station on the Northumberland Line to open will be Northumberland Park on Sunday 22nd February 2026. Ahead of the reintroduction of the passenger service at this station, you're invited you to join us on Wednesday 18th February 2026 at Backworth Hall, Station Rd, Backworth, NE27 0AH from 6.15pm to 7.45pm for an information event. The event will be a drop in, so call in any time between 6.15pm and 7.45pm to ask questions about the station and the new rail service that

Overnight Highways Works around Bedlington Station
To allow us to install new street lighting columns, signage and kerbs at Bedlington Station, there will be temporary lane closures, multiphase 3-way lights, and footway closure and diversions on Barrington Road, Ravensworth Street, Melrose Villas, Clayton Steet, St John’s Road and West of Station Road from Monday 2 February 2026 until Sunday 22 February 2026. One Million & Counting.............
Passengers have now made more than 1,000,000 journeys on the Northumberland Line - as the next station's opening date is confirmed. Overnight Road Works on Barrington Road, Bedlington
There will be overnight road works on Barrington Road in Bedlington from 11pm on Thursday 15th January until 6am on Friday 16th January. This will involve two way traffic lights that will be monitored by a traffic management operative throughout the works, with the works being undertaken to carry out some survey works around the level crossing at Bedlington North.

Drainage Works in Bedlington
From Tuesday 6th January 2026, there will be drainage works taking place overnight around the Ravensworth Street area of Bedlington. The works will be undertaken with temporary traffic lights to close lanes so that work can be conducted safely. The works will take place between 9pm and 6am for around 4 weeks and the worksite will move so that the new drainage for the station can be completed. Virtual careers room launches for Northumberland SEND Schools
A specialised virtual careers room for the County Council’s schools has been launched to support Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) pupils. Bedlington Station Construction - Drop In Event on Thursday 23rd October 2025
The Northumberland Line team will be holding a public information drop-in session on Thursday 23 October 2025 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at East Bedlington Community Centre, 16 Station Street, Bedlington, NE22 7JN. Members of the team delivering the project, including Northumberland County Council and stations contractor Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, will be available to speak to about the construction works. The Journey
Have you taken The Journey yet ? As part of the development of the Northumberland Line, poet John Challis has written a poem to commemorate the lines rich history, which is shared with today's users of the line. The poem has a stanza for each of the line's six new stations and can also be seen at each of the Northumberland Line's new stations. We hope you enjoy it.

Now that all six stations are open on the Northumberland Line and track works have been completed, we won't be sharing any future "business as usual" works that Network Rail carry out along the line.
