Details of the latest works in Ashington are summarised below.
Northumberland Line contractors, Morgan Sindall have reconfigured Wansbeck Square car park in preparation for works starting on the new Ashington station.
The works are essential for the development of the project and have involved undertaking surveys, removing vegetation, setting up worker welfare facilities and relocating the recycling facilities in the current car park.
Throughout the construction works, Wansbeck Square car park will be set out differently, yet public parking is still available in marked bays with vehicle and pedestrian access maintained throughout.
Pedestrian access to Station Road and Wansbeck Square is also available via Kenilworth Road.
