Overnight works will be taking place on the platforms at Bedlington station from Monday 27th April for up to 2 weeks to allow for cable labeling works to take place at lighting columns. The works will happen between 11pm and 6am (between the last train departing and the first train running the following morning). The works are not expected to be noisy.

In order to facilitate road surfacing works around the new Bedlington Station, please be advised that overnight temporary road closures will be in place from Thursday 19th February 2026 until Thursday 26th February 2026 between the hours of 9:00pm – 6:00am each evening. These moving road closures will take place on Station Road/Melrose Villas, Ravensworth Street/ Station Street, Palace Road and Clayton Street including across the level crossings at both Bedlington North and S

Before station construction work was paused at Bedlington for the Christmas & New Year break, we caught up with Jamie Wilson from Morgan Sindall Infrastructure to have a quick catch up on progress and see what work remains in the New Year. We're looking forward to the station at Bedlington opening in early 2026 and we'll announce a date as soon as it's been confirmed.

From Monday 24th November, there will be some off peak roadworks and pedestrian walkway closures on Rotary Road, close to the Northumberland Park station construction site. The works will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm on weekdays only and are expected to be complete by 12th December. There will be a southbound lane and pedestrian footway closure during the works (shown in blue on the picture).

Network Rail will be undertaking track maintenance works in the Blyth Bebside area using a machine called a Tamper, which is used to make sure the track is level. The works are essential for the continued development of the Northumberland Line rail project. The Northumberland Line team will be holding a public information drop-in session on Thursday 23 October 2025 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at East Bedlington Community Centre, 16 Station Street, Bedlington, NE22 7JN.
