Updated: Jul 31

From Wednesday 6 to Friday 8 August 2025 (3 nights), full road closures will be in place across the west and east sides of the new station between 8pm and 6am, to allow for the completion of the highway works, which will include white lining and instillation of lighting columns. Works will be carried out with care to minimise disruption to nearby residents and businesses, and noise levels will remain within UK legal limits.

Traffic management

Due to proximity of works to live traffic, this work is required to take place on nights between the hours of 8:00pm – 6:00am only. Please follow diversion routes and signage during this period. Vehicle access will be marshalled and remain open for residents only and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works via diversion routes.

During this period local bus services including the X8 and X10 will be impacted.

Service X8

Buses will be required to divert via Benridge Bus Link, Newcastle Road & Plessey Rd before joining normal route in each direction. This would result in the South Beach area being unserved on the evening.

Service X10

Buses will be required to divert via Benridge Bus Link before joining their normal route on Newcastle Road in each direction.

What to expect during these works

During this overnight work, we will be carrying out road surfacing which will include the use of JCB, planer, dumper, blow torch, floor saw and other machinery. There is potential for impact on people living and working close by, however every effort will be taken to limit this where practically possible. Any noise arising from the works will be within the legal levels under UK law and every effort to keep noise, dust and vibration, as limited as possible although some level of disturbance is to be expected.
