Revised Service on 26th & 27th September 2026

We've shared previously that there were engineering works that would disrupt trains on the Northumberland Line on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September 2026. The plans have now changed and train services will run as normal for most of the day on Saturday 26th September, with the last train from Newcastle running at 16:25 to Ashington and the last train from Ashington running at 17:07 to Newcastle. Mobility Scooters now permitted on Northern Trains

We're sharing some great news from Northern Trains as mobility scooters can now be carried on their trains. Customers who want to travel with a mobility scooter need to apply for a permit and that needs to be a permit plus for users in the North East. The permit plus criteria is based on the following; Maximum length of 120cm Maximum width of 60cm Maximum turning circle of 120cm Maximum combined weight of scooter and user: 300kg (47 stone) Fitted with anti-tip wheels Minimum

Engineering Works - 19th/20th September

On the weekend of the 19th/20th September, train services on the Northumberland Line will be suspended due to engineering works. A rail replacement bus service will run between Ashington and Northumberland Park (via all stations), with customers then changing onto the Tyne & Wear Metro for journeys into Newcastle City Centre.
