Roadworks on Front Street at Bebside extended

Since we started works in the highway on Front Street, the age and condition of existing utilities and services beneath the road has necessitated a re-design, including a requirement for installing additional drainage. This has impacted our programme, and the works are now anticipated to finish by early September 2025.

The Furnace Road entrance will need to remain closed until the works are complete.

There will also be a full road closure on Front Street from 8pm on Sunday 20 July to 6am on Monday 21 July, and from 8pm on Thursday 31 July to 6am on Friday 1 August. A diversion route will be clearly signposted.

Following these works, final surfacing will take place overnight during a four-night full road closure on Front Street, starting on Friday 29 August and finishing on Monday 1 September. Works will be ongoing between 7pm and 6am during this period.

What to expect during the works

During the works, there is a potential for localised disruption from noise, vibration and dust, although the team will aim to keep this as minimal as practically possible. Diversions will be in place during the full road closures and will be clearly signposted.
