Roadworks at Newsham

Our next phase of works continues on the west of the site for the new road alignment for the west roundabout. The next phase of works includes:

• Installation of a temporary ramp from the junction off the west roundabout onto the new road alignment for Railway Cottages. This will take place on the weekend of Friday 30 May 2025, with traffic switched onto its permanent alignment from Monday 2 June 2025.

• Installation of a traffic island on Newcastle Road in week commencing Monday 9 June 2025. This element of works will see off-peak three-way lights in place to construct the traffic island.

• Throughout June 2025, we will be tarmacking the pedestrian footways on the west.

• Installation of kerbs on South Newsham Road adjacent to Railway Cottages from Monday 16 June 2025 for up to 3 weeks.

• During these works across June, various traffic management systems will be in operation. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works via diversion routes.

Work timings

This phase of works includes some activities that must be done outside of peak times. This means we will be carrying out works on weekdays, occasional midweek nights between 10:00pm – 6:00am and weekend days and nights anticipated between the hours of 10:00pm – 8:00am.

What to expect during these works

During this work, there is potential for some impact on people living and working close by, however every effort will be taken to limit this where practically possible. Any noise arising from the works will be within the legal levels under UK law and every effort will be made to keep noise, dust and vibration as limited as possible, although some level of disturbance is to be expected.
