Around 130 children and their parents came together at Newsham Primary School to enjoy a fun family day on Monday, 24 October.
Wessex Archaeology and Morgan Sindall hosted the event with a chance for kids to try their hand at various activities including grinding their own flour, taking a virtual reality walk through an iron age village and building a scale-model bridge.
This was followed in the early evening by a presentation on the site excavations of what is believed to be an Iron Age settlement found near the site of the proposed Newsham train station. Newsham Ward Councillor Cliff Humphreys said, “I was delighted to see so many people enjoying this memorable and inspirational experience."
