Mobility Scooters now permitted on Northern Trains
We're sharing some great news from Northern Trains as mobility scooters can now be carried on their trains.
Customers who want to travel with a mobility scooter need to apply for a permit and that needs to be a permit plus for users in the North East. The permit plus criteria is based on the following;
Maximum length of 120cm
Maximum width of 60cm
Maximum turning circle of 120cm
Maximum combined weight of scooter and user: 300kg (47 stone)
Fitted with anti-tip wheels
Minimum climbing angle of 6°
Be able to travel at a maximum of 4mph
Stations on the Northumberland Line are all scooter friendly with the exception of Manors, where the only access to the station is via a footbridge.
