Travelling on Saturday 20th December 2025
We're expecting that trains will be busy on Saturday 20th December with Christmas Shopping and Markets in Newcastle in full swing, along with Newcastle United being at home with a 12.30pm kick off at St James Park. We'd advise to leave extra time for your journey and plan ahead. Trains will be running their usual twice per hour timetable throughout most of the day. Almost a million reasons why the Northumberland Line is a success
A year to the day since it opened, the Northumberland Line is proving more popular than ever. With a million passenger journeys set to be made by early January, the first 12-months of services is transforming travel, prospects and lives in both Northumberland and Tyneside. New Northumberland Line Timetable from Sunday 14th December
The timetable for trains on the Northumberland Line will change from Sunday 14th December 2025. The new timetable will see trains on Mondays to Saturdays generally run around 7 minutes later than they do now in each direction. On Sundays, the trains will generally run around 2 minutes later than they do currently. We'll also see a new later train from Newcastle to Ashington at 23.21 on Mondays to Saturdays which will improve night out opportunities along the line, with this

EV Charging at Northumberland Line Stations
Electric car charging is now available at Ashington, Blyth Bebside, Newsham and Seaton Delaval stations on the Northumberland Line. There are instructions on each of the chargers, along with a QR code to buy charging time. The chargers are 7.4KW and cost £0.57 per KWh and you can either choose to charge until your car is full or select by the KWh for your charge. Parking is free for EV cars on charge at Northumberland Line stations.

Virtual careers room launches for Northumberland SEND Schools
A specialised virtual careers room for the County Council’s schools has been launched to support Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) pupils. Developed by AECOM, the virtual careers room is a digital space in which users can interact with information in a variety of different formats and is accessible on mobile phones, tablets, computers and other devices. Drainage Works in Bedlington
From Tuesday 6th January 2026, there will be drainage works taking place overnight around the Ravensworth Street area of Bedlington. The works will be undertaken with temporary traffic lights to close lanes so that work can be conducted safely. The works will take place between 9pm and 6am for around 4 weeks and the worksite will move so that the new drainage for the station can be completed.
