From 10pm on Thursday 10th August until 6am on Friday 18th August and then again from 6pm on the 22nd August until 6pm on the 23rd August, the level crossing at Station Road in Bedlington (Bedlington South Level Crossing) will be closed.
The closure is to allow for track replacement work to take place through the station at Bedlington and to restore the sidings at Furnace Way, just to the South of the signal box. That's just over 400m of track in both directions, with the work happening 24 hours a day, so expect the works to be noisy, including horns being sounded by cranes and track equipment so that the site is kept safe.
We apologise in advance that the works will be noisy and cause disruption due to the level crossing closure.
The pedestrian crossing from Wynyard Drive to Barrington Road will also be closed from 10pm on Thursday 10th August until 6am on Friday 18th August as engineering trains and equipment will be blocking the pedestrian crossing.
Free Shuttle Bus for Bedlington South Level Crossing Closure
We'll be running a shuttle bus from one side of the level crossing to the other so that everyone can still get around. Buses will run to the following timetable and serve all stops between the Co-op on Station Road to the Clayton Arms and vice versa, providing connections as Arriva buses will also be diverted during the closure.
The shuttle bus will also run during the level crossing closure on the 22nd & 23rd August at the same times as the weekday timetable shown above.
