In order to complete the new entrance junction, lighting columns and utility connections for the Seaton Delaval Station, we will be undertaking highway works, including overnight works, on Astley Road between The Hastings Arms and the roundabout outside of Delaval Court (please see image below for exact location).
This work will commence on Monday 23 September 2024 until Friday 18 October 2024 and is expected to take place over a 4-week period. During this period, works will include:
· Excavations and works to install ducting and lighting sockets.
· Installation of a new bus stop.
· Installation of lighting columns and feeder pillars.
· Completing surfacing works and re-painting the white lines.
To allow this work to be undertaken safely, traffic management will be in place with temporary traffic lights between the hours of 9:30 am - 3:30 pm. Overnight full road closures will be in place every Monday – Friday nights during this period between the hours of 11:50 pm to 6:00 am on the A192, Astley Road (please see image below for road diversions). Temporary lights will be installed ahead of overnight works between the hours of 7:00 pm - 11:50 pm prior to the full closure.
Please note there will be access for pedestrians at all times and special arrangements are in place for the bus services along Astley Road to remain on their usual route.
What to expect during these works
During this period, there is potential for some impact for people living close by, however every effort will be taken to limit it where possible including noise and vibrations. Heavy compacting equipment will need to be used to complete the footways however, we will aim to keep noise / vibration to a minimum where practically possible. Noise monitors are in place which continuously report data and send alerts of any exceedances. This is monitored by the contractor’s Safety, Health and Environmental team.
