You may be aware that there are people currently working on the tracks in the Newsham area. These works will see the railway tracks upgraded from the south of Newsham to the northern end of Hartley Curve (indicated in red on Image one below). These works will be continuing during the following times:
Start Date | End Date | Times | Shifts |
Tuesday 30 April | Friday 3 May | 7pm to 7am | Nights |
Monday 6 May | Friday 10 May | 7am to 7pm | Days |
Monday 13 May | Friday 17 May | 7pm to 7am | Nights |
The works will require the use of machinery including a mechanical excavator and power tools, and will result in increased contractor and vehicle activity on the site. This may cause additional disruption including noise, vibration and dust. Engineering trains will also be used during these works and these need to sound their horns when moving near workers to help ensure safety. To limit noise during the works, where possible equipment will be turned off when not in use, and battery operated machinery will be used. However, although these measures may limit noise, they will not remove it.
We understand that working near homes overnight is far from ideal and we are sorry in advance for any disruption these essential works may cause.
Newsham level crossing on South Newsham Road will also be closed for the overnight closures from Wednesday 1 May until Friday 3 May and a shuttle bus will be running, with the timetable shown below
