Seghill Level Crossing Upgrade Works

Updated: Apr 22

We will be installing and testing the new level crossing equipment at Seghill Level Crossing from 10pm on Saturday 27 April to 10pm on Sunday 5 May in the location shown below. Works will be carried out 24 hours a day. We will need to have a full road closure over the Seghill crossing while the works are taking place, but pedestrian access will be maintained.

A diversionary route, which has been agreed with the council, will be in place for your convenience and a free shuttle bus will be provided to access bus services that will diverted due to the level crossing closure.

We understand that working near homes and working overnight is far from ideal and I am sorry in advance for any disruption these essential works may cause.

Our teams have been briefed and will be mindful when carrying out this work, making sure all the relevant mitigations are in place to avoid excess noise.

Local buses will be diversion and will run as follows

  • X7 - diverted via Annitsford & East Cramlington and not serving Seghill

  • 57A - diverted via Annitsford & East Cramlington and not serving Seghill

  • 19 - to be confirmed

Home to school transport will also run with altered times and details will be shared from the local schools to parents.

Free Shuttle Bus Information

The shuttle bus will run from the Burnlea Gardens bus stop on the east side of the level crossing to the Blake Arms bus stop on the west side of the level crossing (& vice-versa) via Seaton Delaval and Annitsford to connect with diverted local bus services.
