Temporary closure of footpath Forest Hall 005 (Palmersville)

The public right of way on this footpath is being diverted whilst work is on-going to replace the current pedestrian crossing at Palmersville with a new underpass under the railway.


This path will be temporarily closed from Monday 27th March 2023 until Friday 3rd November 2023. An appropriate alternative diversion has been agreed with North Tyneside Council.

It is June 2024 and the footpath is completed but still closed ,why?

Construction of the underpass is now substantially completed with finishing works to the lighting and drainage system currently underway. These works are taking longer than expected whilst electrical payment meters are installed by the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) provider. Following completion of these works which is planned within the next 4 weeks, a series of formal land transfers will take place between a number of third parties and between Northumberland County Council and North Tyneside Council. The project is looking at how these formal transfers can be expedited to enable the earliest possible opening of the underpass, however this may take up to 8 weeks following completion of the lighting and drainage works.
