Engineering Works in Bedlington
Engineering works are planned on the Northumberland Line during the morning of Sunday 9th August 2026. Works will be taking place on the track at Bedlington and buses will replace trains between Ashington and Newsham, with trains then running between Newsham and Newcastle on the usual Sunday timetable. Buses will leave Ashington at 08:02, 09:02, 10:02 & 11:02 for Newsham and the first train will be at 12:38 towards Newcastle & Metrocentre. Buses will leave Bedlington at 08:1

A Day Out To Make A Difference
To celebrate them becoming Newsham Station adopters, Blyth Rotary are raising funds for Rotary International’s own charity “End Polio Now - Purple for Polio”. On Friday 3rd July they intend to see how far they can travel with Northern in a day: Cover over 400 miles Pass through a total of 86 station stops Go through 59 towns and hope to raise sponsorship They will begin at Ashington at 0607 hrs and visit Middlesborough, Saltburn, Whitby, Bishop Auckland, Thornaby, then along

The Journey
Have you taken The Journey yet ? As part of the development of the Northumberland Line, poet John Challis has written a poem to commemorate the lines rich history, which is shared with today's users of the line. The poem has a stanza for each of the line's six new stations and can also be seen at each of the Northumberland Line's new stations. We hope you enjoy it.
