We'll be seeing some further work on the level crossing at Bedlington South for further testing of the new equipment as well as work on the level crossing deck so that the surface is smooth.
This work will take place in two weekend closures, with the first being from 9.30pm on Saturday 20th until 5.30am on Monday 22nd January, and the second closure is from 10.30pm on Saturday 27th until 6am on Monday 29th January. The level crossing will be closed to all road traffic and pedestrians. We'll have a free shuttle bus running during the closures and the timetables are shown below;
During the level crossing closures, Arriva buses will run slightly altered routes;
Service 2 will run from Morpeth via the usual route to Bedlington Station then via Station Road & Stead Lane towards Bebside Asda. Buses from Blyth to Morpeth will run the opposite way around the diversionary route.
Service X21 will run on it's usual route from Ashington to Bedlington Station and then non-stop to pick up its usual route at the Co-op on the west side of the level crossing. Buses to Ashington will follow the same diversion.
From Monday 22nd January, the car park at the junction of Station Road and Melrose Villas will close and become a compound for the station construction works.
Work to install the main site compound will take place between 8:00am and 18:00pm on Monday to Friday, with no expected weekend work. During this period, you can expect multiple deliveries made to the site compound by Heavy Good Vehicles (HGVs). There will be a suspension period for HGV traffic between the hours of 8am – 9am and 3pm – 4pm to accommodate the school drop off and pick up hours. All efforts will be made to ensure the roads are kept clean with regular road sweeps
