We are continuing works to form the new platform foundations and these works will continue through Saturday 20 July and Sunday 21 July between the hours of 8am and 6pm. While we aim to keep weekend working to a minimum, this is an opportunity to utilise time during a blockade (railway line closure) to progress the works. This includes some activities on or near the railway line, which can only be done safely when there are no trains running.
What to expect during these works
Use of machinery will include excavators and dumpers. We will aim to keep noise and disruption as minimal as practically possible and will continue to work within the terms agreed with North Tyneside Council. I understand that working near your property and working at weekends is far from ideal, and I apologise in advance for any disruption these essential works may cause.
Storage of equipment on A186 (Rotary Road)
As with the earlier phase of mining remediation works, we again need to store equipment close by, on one lane of the A186 road. As before, this lane will be temporarily closed, starting from Monday 29 July 2024 for the duration of this phase of works, anticipated to continue until October 2024. To prepare for this and allow for the equipment to be installed, we need a full closure of the southbound carriageway on the A186 as follows:
· Monday 29 July 9.30am – 3.30pm
· Tuesday 30 July 9.30am – 3.30pm
· Wednesday 31 July 9.30am – 3.30pm
What to expect during the works
Access to the footpath on Algernon Drive bridge will continue to be restricted for short durations when the crane is in use. Access will be managed by our site team, who will open the footpath as soon as it is safe to do so. During this period, please approach the traffic marshals in the first instance who can advise if the footpath can be used.
There will be both traffic management in place and a signposted pedestrian diversion route, please see Images below.
During this work there is potential for noise, dust, and vibration, but we will make every effort to reduce this as much as possible. We have continuous noise monitoring equipment installed onsite to capture in real-time the noise levels being generated.
