Overnight Highways Works around Bedlington Station
To allow us to install new street lighting columns, signage and kerbs at Bedlington Station, there will be temporary lane closures, multiphase 3-way lights, and footway closure and diversions on Barrington Road, Ravensworth Street, Melrose Villas, Clayton Steet, St John’s Road and West of Station Road from Monday 2 February 2026 until Sunday 22 February 2026. Northumberland Park Opening Date Announced
The next station on the Northumberland Line to open will be Northumberland Park on Sunday 22nd February 2026. The first train to serve the station will be the 08:10 to Ashington (07:54 from Newcastle), with the first train to Newcastle & Metrocentre at 09:02 (08:38 from Ashington). Overnight Road Works on Barrington Road, Bedlington
There will be overnight road works on Barrington Road in Bedlington from 11pm on Thursday 15th January until 6am on Friday 16th January. This will involve two way traffic lights that will be monitored by a traffic management operative throughout the works, with the works being undertaken to carry out some survey works around the level crossing at Bedlington North.

Drainage Works in Bedlington
From Tuesday 6th January 2026, there will be drainage works taking place overnight around the Ravensworth Street area of Bedlington. The works will be undertaken with temporary traffic lights to close lanes so that work can be conducted safely. The works will take place between 9pm and 6am for around 4 weeks and the worksite will move so that the new drainage for the station can be completed. Travelling on Saturday 20th December 2025

Almost a million reasons why the Northumberland Line is a success
A year to the day since it opened, the Northumberland Line is proving more popular than ever. New Northumberland Line Timetable from Sunday 14th December
The timetable for trains on the Northumberland Line will change from Sunday 14th December 2025. The new timetable will see trains on Mondays to Saturdays generally run around 7 minutes later than they do now in each direction. On Sundays, the trains will generally run around 2 minutes later than they do currently. Off Peak Roadworks on Rotary Road
From Monday 24th November, there will be some off peak roadworks and pedestrian walkway closures on Rotary Road, close to the Northumberland Park station construction site. The works will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm on weekdays only and are expected to be complete by 12th December. There will be a southbound lane and pedestrian footway closure during the works (shown in blue on the picture).

EV Charging at Northumberland Line Stations
Electric car charging is now available at Ashington, Blyth Bebside, Newsham and Seaton Delaval stations on the Northumberland Line. There are instructions on each of the chargers, along with a QR code to buy charging time. The chargers are 7.4KW and cost £0.57 per KWh and you can either choose to charge until your car is full or select by the KWh for your charge. Parking is free for EV cars on charge at Northumberland Line stations.

Celebrating One Month Of Bedlington
Today marks one month since the station at Bedlington opened to the public. To celebrate the occasion, we had a chat with local resident Christine Bell and recreated a photo of her that was taken with the then Station Master of Bedlington in the 1950's. The original photo was taken in the garden of the Station Master's house, which still stands on Barrington Road. Overnight Cable Works at Bedlington
Overnight works will be taking place on the platforms at Bedlington station from Monday 27th April for up to 2 weeks to allow for cable labeling works to take place at lighting columns. The works will happen between 11pm and 6am (between the last train departing and the first train running the following morning). The works are not expected to be noisy.
