Mid-week and weekend overnight station construction works
We are progressing with completion of the platform installation and station footbridge, along with the footpath to the A189 foot and cycle bridge. From Sunday 24 November 2024, we will be extending our daytime working shifts to include weekends. We will also, where required, be working overnight between 10:00 pm and 5:00am through the week as shown in the table below. Overnight shifts allow us to complete activities near the railway line, which have to be done when no trains are running.

Mid-week overnight and weekend daytime works on Errington Street Highways
We are continuing our work on Errington Street to install drainage and lay out the new road and footpath. Most of the works are completed during the day, however, so that we can complete this phase of works as quickly as possible and to maintain access for businesses, we will also be working mid-week nightshifts between the hours of 8:00pm and 6:00am and on weekend dayshifts between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm where required.
What to expect
Use of machinery will include – hand tools, excavators, rollers and dumpers moving between Errington Street and the site compound. Any noise and local disruption will be kept as minimal as practically possible, and any significant changes to the duration of this programme or shift timings due to site specific conditions will be updated in further communications.
As advised in our post dated 24 October, following the completion of Northern Power Grid’s current works on Front Street, we will be installing temporary traffic management in the form of multi-phase traffic lights. The start date for this will be advised in further communications.
