Engineering works are planned on the Northumberland Line during the morning of Sunday 9th August 2026. Works will be taking place on the track at Bedlington and buses will replace trains between Ashington and Newsham, with trains then running between Newsham and Newcastle on the usual Sunday timetable. Buses will leave Ashington at 08:02, 09:02, 10:02 & 11:02 for Newsham and the first train will be at 12:38 towards Newcastle & Metrocentre. Buses will leave Bedlington at 08:1

To celebrate them becoming Newsham Station adopters, Blyth Rotary are raising funds for Rotary International’s own charity “End Polio Now - Purple for Polio”. As part of the development of the Northumberland Line, poet John Challis has written a poem to commemorate the lines rich history, which is shared with today's users of the line.
